Arizona Home Design Trends for 2020

It’s a new year and a new decade—now is the perfect moment to refresh your space.

Here are a few looks that are gathering momentum for 2020, culled from a range of trend-setting sources, from design fairs and fashion runways to Pinterest and beyond. Happy (re)decorating, Arizona

Pretty in Pink
2020 looks to still be taking cues from 2019’s Pantone Color of the Year—warm variations of pink continue to find their way into interior designs, from blush and millennial pink to rose gold and light pink shades, which can even serve as a room’s neutral tone.

Bold, Geometric Patterns
Eye-catching geometric patterns have had a strong presence in the fashion realm, and are now making a foray into modern décor and furniture. Clean lines and bolder geometric patterns can be applied to all kinds of furniture and lighting, as well as wallpaper and accent pillows.

Mixing Metals
Silver, gold, tin and copper will be shining in 2020. It’s been predicted that retro tin panels will gain traction as kitchen backsplashes while the mixing of contrasting metals like iron, gold and bronze will become more common. The only rule? Try not to combine more than three metals in a space, such a blend could end up being overwhelming.

Floral Wallpaper
No disrespect, but this is not your grandmother’s wallpaper. 2020’s floral fabrics and wall coverings play with cool throwback floral patterns and vibrant hues—think yellow and jewel-tones—that will add a pop to one wall or many.

Bring the Outdoors In
Plants are in. Reports from Milan Design Week 2019—a trendsetting industry event—touted the prevalence of oversized indoor plants and interior accessories made to blend or mimic nature. In Arizona, this trend is easy to tap into. Invest in some succulents, bottle brush, oleander and some scaled-down, desert-friendly palms.

Curves Ahead
Furniture with curved edges and rounded corners work well in modern interiors while giving the space a retro twist—this look is perfect for Arizona’s Desert Modern vibe. Look for bubble light fixtures, round mirrors and wavy design accessories, all of which were front and center at Milan Design Week 2019.
