Spring Home Tasks YOU Need to Get Done this Year
As the winter months gradually give way to warmer spring weather, it’s time to prepare your homes for the seasonal shift. From ensuring your HVAC system is in top-notch condition to decluttering forgotten corners around your home, a little maintenance can go a long way in keeping your home comfortable and efficient. 1. Tune Your HVAC
If you have a home warranty then this is a must- especially if you have an older system. Call your home warranty company and have them schedule someone to come out to service your HVAC system. This will ensure you are protected if it happens to fail during the summer months.
2. Clean Your Air Filters
Another spring home tasks that is highly recommended is cleaning your air filters. It is recommended that you change your air filters every 30 days, but if you do not regularly change them make sure to get it done this spring.
3. Clean Your Pool Filters
If you have a pool, your filters have been sitting all winter- through the dust, rain and storms! We would recommend making sure that they are cleared before your pool is put to use this spring/summer.
4. Soak Your Kitchen Hood
One area that many people forget to deep clean is the vents off their kitchen hood above their cooktop. Pull them out of the hood, coat them with liquid dish detergent (such as Dawn) and let them sit for a few hours. Then, let them soak overnight in hot water. The following morning lather them again and rinse with hot water, and finish by letting them air dry. You will be surprised at what a difference that makes!
5. Clean Out Your Closet and Garage
Our last spring home task we recommend completing is a “spring clean out.” Take the time to clean out your garage and closets. Springtime is when most communities have their neighborhood garage sales, right before the summer heat kicks in, so take advantage by getting rid of some unused items and making some money!
